On 31 July 2019, as planned, the new senior citizens‘ residence Haus Marie-Eberth in Schongau was handed over to the SCHÖNES LEBEN Group and the future operator compassio by WOB Immobilien GmbH, which acted as the property developer. After a construction period of approximately 13 months, a modern and innovative new building has been erected in the immediate vicinity of the hospital, which creates an ambiance of well-being for the residents and provides the ideal infrastructure for excellent care during the residents’ stay. compassio will assume operation of the facility with a capacity for 111 senior citizens and will move into the new building at the end of August with about 50 residents. The outdated old building will be demolished soon. At a ceremony on 31 July 2019 with representatives of the Schongau region, the city and compassio, Herbert and Stefan Schiessl, managing directors of WOB Immobilien, handed over the keys in a symbolic ceremony.

Monika Nirschl, member of the management of the Bavarian region at compassio is pleased with the new location in Schongau: „compassio is an experienced operator with great expertise in providing care and nursing services. As a preferred employer we are very confident that we will be able to attract employees to Marie-Eberth and that we will also succeed in recruiting additional employees for the significantly larger company as well. We want to be a reliable partner in the Schongau community, for residents, relatives, employees and the public sector.

For District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiss, this means that the process of transferring the Marie-Eberth home for the elderly into a new structural-organizational framework and with a new, but proven operator is now entering the final implementation phase, which will be completed with the move of the residents at the end of August. The county is pleased that the proven structures of elderly care and hospital care in the immediate vicinity can be implemented with a new homelike quality. The tight schedule could be met thanks to the close and goal-oriented cooperation between all participants.

A kitchen apron and a bread peel were handed over to the head of the facility, Gisela Mair, as a surprise gesture. These are accessories to a brickwork bread and pizza oven, which will be installed in the facility’s garden. The oven will certainly be a great source of entertainment to more than just the home’s residents. The oven is a gift from WOB Immobilien, construction company Haseitl and compassio for the completion of the home.

Close cooperation with the Schongau hospital on the healthcare campus of the Krankenhaus-GmbH will further contribute to the mutual success of Krankenhaus-GmbH and compassio in the future. Residents, employees and patients of the clinic will continue to benefit from the immediate proximity of the two facilities.
